Most of us think of February and St. Valentines Day and celebrating with the “one” we love, but I will be thinking of February as a month of transition, a month where I can spend a little more time focusing on myself, loving myself just a little more so I can reignite with passion and a zest for life.

Would you like to join me on this journey of self care and love? The crazy days of the holidays are well behind us now and we are settling into the doldrums of winter and might be finding ourselves fatigued, bored, and stuck.

It is a great time of year to implement some self care practices versus settling into mind numbing patterns and letting our brains take us to a place of bewilderment.

Why not use this time for candlelight baths while reading books written by your favorite authors, enjoying hot showers while eucalyptus essential oil is streaming from the diffuser, spending some time on your yoga mat practicing asana or meditation, taking an urban hike through the city streets breathing in the fresh winter air – just taking the time this month to lavish yourself in LOVE?

There are many essential oils that you can use to support you in your journey of self care and love.

1. Ylang-Ylang has a lovely warm floral scent, and is often used to help relieve nervousness, tension, and restlessness

2. Jasmine with a warm romantic and floral scent, is helpful for promoting relaxation, and is also super soothing for dry and irritated skin.

3. Rose perhaps the scent most associated with love, the oil has benefits that go beyond just that. The oil promotes relaxation but is also great for your skin – it’s naturally balancing, and soothing to irritated and dry skin.

4. Sandalwood has a warm and spicy scent that helps to boost clarity and memory while also being calming. It’s excellent for use during meditation, as well as helps to enhance mood and promote grounding.

5. Neroli has a citrus and floral scent, and is both calming and uplifting. It’s also an excellent oil for skin from helping to balance excess oil and protecting dry skin.

6. Lemon with a bright citrus scent, this essential oil can help to boost your mood and is naturally uplifting and energizing. Lemon is also detoxing and purifying.

7. Wild orange is energizing scent that can also help to boost immunity as well as mood.

8. Similar to rose, geranium is balancing and can help to promote feelings of peace.

Change is in the air; I feel it coming, please take the time this month to love yourself, refuel with goodness, and move forward with grace.

I know it seems crazy to be totally decorated for Christmas the Sunday before Thanksgiving, but for me I do it because it reminds me of the loves that can’t be here this year to celebrate this magical season.

I will spend my evenings and lazy afternoons this holiday season beside the tree where the lights sparkle reminding me of my dogs, my grandparents and my friends that passed this earth too soon.

The special ornaments on the tree, trinkets, figurines, tablecloths, hand knitted blankets positioned throughout my home all bring special memories and reminders of love…

My heart breaks that these loves are not here in the physical to celebrate this holiday season with me, but my heart is also over flowing with love and joy because I know if I just sit in silence, they are right beside me in quiet twinkling lights of the tree…if I’m just silent and listen to the messages…they would tell me that the holidays are meant to love and celebrate with the beautiful amazing people that surround me RIGHT NOW.

We have all lost so many…we could sit in that sadness that sometimes overwhelms us, or we could listen to the wisdom that they share with us in the twinkling lights of the early decorated Christmas tree and make this the best Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year we have ever had in our lives…filled with giving, laughter, family, friendship, giggles, forgiveness, and lots of love. Stop by this holiday season and sit by the twinkling lights of my tree and see what wisdom is bestowed upon you…you will probably also get a big lick from big boy Duff!!!

Melissa Knepper and Tracy Mosebey, doTERRA Wellness Advocates will be set up at Butterfly Gardens in McConnellsburg during Christmas in McConnellsburg on Saturday, December 1, from 9 AM – 2 PM to answer your questions about essential oils.

We will have have essential oils available for cash and carry and will be onsite enrolling new doTERRA members. 

Butterfly Gardens is a florist, nursery and garden center established in 2006 and is a woman owned business located at 171 Kenwood Drive in Mc Connellsburg, Pennsylvania. 

The Annual Christmas in McConnellsburg event encourages shopping and buying local. A variety of vendors will also be set up at the Fulton Theater behind the F&M Trust Company building in McConnellsburg on Friday, November 30, from 11AM – 8 PM and on Saturday, December 1, from 9AM – 2 PM. Bring the kids on Friday evening from 6 PM – 8 PM to see Santa and take you own pictures. 

“I am Worthy”essential oil book club starting Thursday, November 8 at 7:00 PM. I would like to invite you to a very special group – a 5 week journey of self acceptance.

I stayed late at work this evening to catch up from vacation, stopped at the hardware store, and made a stop to purchase lottery tickets – where I met a lovely lady and her beautiful dog named Ben. We chatted about dogs and politics and essential oils – we made connections with mutual friends and marveled at how small the world is. We left as Facebook friends and are definitely going to plan a doggie date for our big furry dogs.

I’m now home after another brief stop to share some essential oils with a friend in need; Duffield is enjoying his bone and I am waiting for dinner to finish in the oven. The fire is burning bright and I’m enjoying a quiet warm cozy home.

I’m sad that vacation is simply a fleeting memory and that after 8 days of being surrounded by my dear Mother and fabulous friends…I am completely alone in my world with only my big furry dog who only thinks he’s a human.

Suddenly an intense feeling of loneliness sets in and on the next moment I begin to panic…anxiety creeps upon me and I feel the spinning begin…I then simply close my eyes and breathe and reach for ylang ylang…my heart beat regulates and I begin to ground and balance.

I realize that even though I am alone…I am NOT lonely.

My life is filled with many blessings I have a loving mother who stands by me through every up and down, she celebrates with me and comforts me when life gets tough, I have a crazy loving family, and close knit group of friends…my tribe is constantly growing and changing – and I know “HE” is out there waiting and looking for me.

I am blessed with the ability to travel to beautiful places, the gift of sharing and teaching yoga, I live in a place where I have access to beautiful spaces in nature, and opportunities for adventure are always within my reach.

My life is full and abundance abounds!

But I need you, I love you, and I thank you! ❤️

Last week during the evenings and throughout the weekend, I sat glued in front of my computer streaming the live sessions of the doTERRA Convention in Utah; wishing that I was personally attending. I watched the celebrations happen as individuals were promoted in ranks for sharing and caring doTERRA with their friends, family members, and neighbors. I watched the breakout sessions that were full of informative, educational and scientific discussions about essential oils and products, and how doTERRA products can help each of us take better charge of our health.

Can anyone else believe that we woke up this morning to a new month? The weather is finally becoming less humid, the leaves are beginning to drop from the sturdy tall trees, the summer is beginning to slowly fade away; and we all continue on our journey to change and manifestation. There is nothing we can do to stop the change…so this year as summer fades to fall, maybe we step back, take a breath and embrace the journey instead of fighting it. As the seasons begin to change, we might use this an opportunity to do some “big work” within ourselves. Possibly sitting in silence on the cooler nights and asking ourselves why we need to constantly control all areas of our lives. Wouldn’t if be more fun if we just let go and see what the journey delivers. Dream big, love much, put the work in, and watch the magic unfold.
