The magic of summer fireflies

As the sun dropped behind the mountains this evening, I spotted the first fireflies – I watched as their light flickered and produced sparks and then glimmers through the darkness beginning to fall over the earth. That simple spark of magical light provoked a gentle nudge to remind me to recenter in joy and to focus on the blessings.

This summer is setting itself up to be a magical time; summertime is a season of magic and wonder – a time when the days are full of hot sunshine that browns the skin and nights that bring a gentle warm breeze and peaceful longer evenings to enjoy fleeting time in nature with family and friends.

I am so extremely blessed to have many wonderful people surrounding me, showering me with their love. Tonight I was able to spend some time my momma, my cousin and her amazing kid (and Duffield, I can’t forget my furry boy) floating in a blue pool for hours laughing and talking nonsense.

How delightful it is to be able to share these special simple moments with people I love dearly – splashing, giggling, accepting one another, loving one another, making wave pools and spinning thought the HOT water on a balmy summer evening.

I hugged my family goodbye and kissed my momma on the check and drove out of Twin Pines this evening, with a big happy heart reminding me that the simple joys are the ones that are the most magical – the most impactful – you know those moments that stir your soul, the ones you never want to forget.

So, root down, dig in, and don’t blink; for it is when you are chasing the grandiose and extravagant, you miss the fireflies that shine their magic right in front of you.

“Like fireflies in the night, may your dreams illuminate the darkness and lead you towards the joy.”
